Maverick City Music is going places no other worship group has gone before.
On today’s episode of NPR’s Here & Now, host Robin Young sat down with TRIBL Music CEO and Maverick City Music co-founder Jonathan Jay, and Maverick City member Norman Gyamfi to discuss the collective’s meteoric rise in the worship industry.
Jay and Gyamfi opened up about the collective’s origins with a different worship group, Atlanta-based Housefires, and how Maverick City is actively working to change what contemporary Christian music can sound and look like. Plus, the duo share the intention behind the band’s latest album, Kingdom: Book One.
