NF just earned the biggest opening of his career. His new EP FEAR debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 this week, marking his highest-charting release to date and cementing his place as one of the few independent rappers who can consistently break into the top tier.
The new project arrives two years after HOPE, the 2023 album that pushed him toward a more expansive, outward-looking sound. FEAR goes the opposite direction. Its opening track zeroes in on the kind of fear that consumes everything in its path — the mental spiral NF has never been shy about documenting — and the belief that only God can pull him out of it.
For longtime fans, FEAR feels less like a pivot and more like a return. NF came up in the Christian rap scene before shifting toward the stark, mental-health-driven storytelling that built his massive following. His faith is still in the frame, but now it functions more as the backdrop to the battles he’s actually fighting. And with FEAR, those battles just delivered the strongest debut of his career.
