Pawnee, Indiana Indie Rock Icons Mouse Rat Will Finally Release a Full Album

Mouse Rat frontman Andy Dwyer has announced that the longrunning indie rock act will finally be releasing a debut album, and it’s about time. Mouse Rat has been a staple of the heartland rock and roll scene ever since Pawnee, Indiana, natives commemorated the passing of beloved four-legged legend Lil’ Sebastian with their instant-classic “5,000 Candles in the Wind.” Now, Mouse Rat is releasing a full album through Pawnee business magnate Tom Haverford’s Entertainment 720. The album will be released digitally and get a limited-edition vinyl run and some merch, so there are all sorts of ways for Mouse Rat fans to show their love. You can pre-order it here.

Dualtone president Paul Roper released a statement praising Haverford’s business acumen.

“From Rent-a-Swag to Tommy Fresh cologne and Tom’s Bistro, not to mention his business ideas not yet formed like the scented phone, talking tissues, contact lenses that display text messages, and the glitter-infused laundry detergent Sparkle Suds, partnering with Entertainment 720’s hype machine was essential. The man is an idea factory.”

Mouse Rat’s debut album The Awesome Album will also feature appearances from local saxophone legend Duke Silver and Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy.

Mouse Rat have released their first single, a remastered version of “5,000 Candles in the Wind.” It comes with a brand new music video too, which you can watch below.
