She can sing. That’s the first thing that strikes you about Lauren Daigle when you listen to Look Up, Child. The woman has been gifted with an incredible set of pipes. She puts them to good use too on the album too, deploying a dusky alto that grabs you by the ears, smacks you across the face and takes your breath away.
Daigle attracted a lot of attention this year, both for her chart-topping singles and an appearance on Ellen that set some of her fans tut-tutting. “I can’t choose who I’m supposed to be kind too and who I’m not,” she said in a later radio interview. “Because that’s the mission right? Be who Christ was to everyone as well.”
