Taylor Swift’s Midnights is officially the first album to sell a million units in a week in the last five years. The last album to do it? Taylor Swift’s Reputation.
The crazy thing? Midnights reached the million-unit milestone in just three days.
And lest you think people don’t buy physical music anymore, it actually hasn’t been just streaming that’s boosted Midnights’ record-setting run. Variety reported that 500,000 vinyl copies were sold over the weekend.
The album hasn’t even been out for a full week yet, so who knows what additional records may be broken before Friday.
Since the album dropped, Swift has been busy. She’s released seven additional tracks, music videos for “Anti-Hero” and “Bejeweled,” and dropped some major hints that Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is coming soon.
