We didn’t need another reason to love “Set Me Free” — Lecrae’s first single from his upcoming ninth album Restoration — but we got one anyway in the form of this insanely good video, which looks like a short treatment for a feature-length film we definitely wish was real.
The song on its own, which samples Mary Mary’s 1999 hit “Shackles (Praise You)”, is a real jam, but the video brings a metric ton of drama and pathos to what’s already a pretty substantive situation. It’s great quarantine-listening that’ll be just as powerful when we all get out of here.
Restoration will release on May 15 and features a guest list featuring the likes of John Legend and Kirk Franklin. Can’t wait.
