The National Announce New Album Featuring Sufjan Stevens, Phoebe Bridgers and Taylor Swift

The National have announced the release of their ninth studio album and given fans a taste of what’s in store.

First Two Pages of Frankenstein will drop April 28, but the band has already released the album’s first single, “Tropic Morning News.”

“Even though we’d always been anxious whenever we were working on a record, this was the first time it ever felt like maybe things really had come to an end,” lead singer Matt Berninger said of the new music.

Guitarist Bryce Dessner added that eventually the band “managed to come back together and approach everything from a different angle, and because of that we arrived at what feels like a new era for the band.”

We’re here for it.

First Two Pages of Frankenstein will feature 11 new songs and guest features from some people named Phoebe Bridgers, Sufjan Stevens and Taylor Swift.

In the years since 2019’s I Am Easy to Find, the band collaborated with Bon Iver on a song called “Weird Goodbyes” and were contributors on Swift’s 2020 sister albums folklore and evermore.
