Charlie Watts’ passing prompted an enormous outpouring from rock and roll fans the world over, as people shared memories and tributes to the Rolling Stones’ longtime drummer. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit went one more at their show in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where they brought out dynamite country singer Brittney Spencer for a searing spin on the Stones’ classic “Gimme Shelter.”
Isbell’s a big Stones fan and his cover of “Sway” is a frequent part of his live shows. Spencer’s made a big splash on the Country scene in Nashville, but she’s also done a lot of work in Gospel, including the gorgeous “God Is Not Abusive” with Common Hymnal.
