It’s been a good year to be Colorado’s Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, whose The Future got a lot of well-deserved attention. The band showed up on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to give the title track a workout and, as per usual, they knocked the number out of the park.
Best of all, “The Future” has a great message, well worth paying attention to. “[On ‘The Future’] I’m pointing the finger at greed,” Rateliff said in a press release. “It’s kind of picking at the corporate world and at religion a little bit. Both of those things are severely lacking love these days. Hopefully people will realize what we’re all missing is a genuine consideration and love for each other.”
Rateliff played The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live earlier this year, and wrote “Redemption” for the Apple’s Justin Timberlake vehicle Palmer.
