Watch the First Trailer for the James Cameron-Directed Billie Eilish 3D Concert Movie

James Cameron is back in 3D mode, but this time he’s not resurrecting Pandora. Paramount just dropped the first trailer for Hit Me Hard and Soft, Billie Eilish’s upcoming concert film co-directed by Eilish and the Avatar filmmaker himself. It’s a pairing that feels oddly inevitable: one of the most visually ambitious directors alive teaming up with one of pop’s most emotionally ambitious stars.

The trailer leans into scale. Cameron says “no one has ever shot a concert film on this scale before” and teases new tech he claims has never been used in the format. He also sits down with Eilish to talk through the heaviness she carried during the tour, hinting that this isn’t just a spectacle play. It’s a headspace film, too.

This is Eilish’s first major theatrical concert release since 2023’s Live at the O2, but the stakes are higher now. She’s bringing the Hit Me Hard and Soft world tour to IMAX and other large-format screens. With Eras Tour shifting expectations for what a concert film can do at the box office, she’s aiming for a larger cultural footprint this time.

It’s been a huge run for Eilish. Hit Me Hard and Soft earned seven Grammy nominations at the 67th ceremony, and “Wildflower” is in the mix again for 2026 with nominations for both record and song of the year.

The timing doesn’t hurt either. Cameron has Avatar: Fire and Ash hitting theaters Dec. 19, and Eilish’s film arrives March 20, 2026.

If the trailer is any indication, this isn’t just another concert movie. It’s James Cameron trying to reinvent the format and Billie Eilish opening up to fans in a way we’ve never seen before. That’s a potent combo, and it looks like they know it.
