Muslims Are Raising Money to Fix a Jewish Cemetery That Was Vandalized

Earlier this week, vandals destroyed more than 170 headstones at a Jewish cemetery outside St. Louis. The vandalism comes as dozens of Jewish community centers around the country receive threats of violence as a part of a disturbing rise of anti-Semitism.

However, in St. Louis, one group is making a statement and standing with the Jewish community: Muslim activists.

Two prominent Muslim activists in the area launched a crowdfunding campaign to repair the damaged graves, explaining on the page,

Through this campaign, we hope to send a united message from the Jewish and Muslim communities that there is no place for this type of hate, desecration, and violence in America.

So far, the “Muslims United to Repair Jewish Cemetery” campaign has already raised more than $62,000.

They aren’t alone in their campaign to fight religious violence in America. The Council on American Islamic Relations is now offering a $5,000 reward for anyone who can help identify those responsible for making the bomb threats.
