Cleveland Browns quarterback Jameis Winston had an epic interview on Thursday Night Football last night.
In a chat with Prime Video reporter Kaylee Hartung ahead of the Browns’ game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Winston wasn’t interested in the usual pregame talk about strategy or rivalries. Instead, he made it clear his focus was on something else.
When Hartung asked what it would take to beat the Steelers, Winston didn’t hesitate.
“‘The horse is prepared for battle, but victory comes from the Lord,'” he said, quoting Proverbs 21:31. “So I’m dependent on the Lord.”
Pressed about whether that was the message he shared with his team, Winston kept it simple: “Day by day, one play at a time, that’s the message.”
As for Cleveland’s notoriously harsh weather? Winston gleefully responded that it was a blessing.
“I am so happy and grateful that the Lord has blessed me to play in some snow,” he said. “To be in true football weather, in Cleveland, Ohio at Huntington Bank Field today — to give Him the glory. It’s a beautiful day.”
Turns out, the mini-sermon worked. The Browns pulled off a 24-19 upset over the Steelers, proving that maybe a little faith can go a long way.
This man be answering a totally different question than the one he was asked, but somehow THAT answer still works as an answer to the actual question he was asked,. pic.twitter.com/z1w86yV7AG

After the game, Winston shared with everyone that he will continue to bring glory to God both on and off the field: “I’m going to do whatever I can to glorify the Lord.”
