North Korea’s New Propaganda Video: ‘Everything Will Turn into Ashes’

Because it’s North Korea, it’s really dramatic. The NK government’s latest propaganda video portrays multiple rocket attacks on South Korea’s presidential Blue House and other government buildings in Seoul. Over the past month, Pyongyang has issued repeated threats of strikes against Seoul and Washington, largely in response to annual South Korea-US war games. Fittingly, this newest video is called, “If the ultimatum goes unanswered” and shows rockets “fired from mobile launchers in the North destroying the buildings in a ball of fire.” The video ends with the warning: “Everything will turn into ashes” which, given Kim Jong-un’s enthusiasm for cinema, is probably something they picked up from The Hunger Games.
