Tortured artist Shia LaBeouf has been working overtime to convince the world that his soul is rent with deep feelings beyond what the Transformers franchise might suggest. On Sunday, LaBeouf attended a press conference and premiere of his new movie Nymphomaniac, a Lars Von Trier film that purports to be one of the most sexually explicit in history. As you might expect, promoting such a film has gone a little off the rails. First came LaBeouf’s painful interview, in which he was asked one question about the film’s graphic content and responded: “When the seagulls follow the trawler, it’s because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much,” and stormed out.
He outdid himself on the red carpet, where he showed up wearing a paper bag with the words “I’m not famous anymore” scribbled on it. So, he’s either living out a bizarre performance art piece or he’s just messing with all of us, but if he’s trying to escape accusations of plagiarism, he’ll have to do a little better.
