
reCAPTCHA, that necessary evil that protects websites from spam by making you attempt to decipher words that look like they were written with a quill pen on a jetski, may finally be on its way out. Google is rolling out what it’s calling “No CAPTCHA reCAPTCHA,” which replaces your hieroglyphic translation process with a few simple clicks. You check a box that says “I’m Not a Robot” and off you go. Why this took years to figure out is anyone’s guess, but it’s a good thing they did. According to Google, the increasing sophistication of spammers is the real reason for the upgrade, but non-scammers welcome this day with open arms as well …
