In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, Pastor John Gray opened up about his decision to leave Lakewood Church, one of the largest churches in America, to pastor in the small town of Greenville, South Carolina.
“We just feel like that’s where God called us. You know Houston is the fourth largest city … very diverse … and things were good.”
Host DJ Envy asks in a somewhat surprised tone, “Why South Carolina?”
Gray responds:
[lborder]Honestly, I’ve always had a heart for smaller towns. I’m grew up Cincinnati and my wife is from Dothan, Alabama. I was serving Pastor Joel and Pastor Victoria’s vision. We served that vision and we thank God for that but there comes a time when there’s a vision in you. And it just depends on where’s the right place to launch it.
