Wakanda forever! The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Ryan Coogler, the writer and director of Black Panther, will return to helm the sequel. It’s an expected move, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting.
It was Marvel’s mission to keep the creative team of the original movie as intact as possible for the follow-up, and since Coogler was the centerpiece of that, it’s no shock they were quick to lock him down.
Coogler’s going to be busy over the next couple years. He’s the executive producer for Creed II and the Space Jam sequel starring LeBron James. He’s also developing the drama Wrong Answer with Michael B. Jordan.
Production for the next Black Panther is rumored to be scheduled for late 2019 or early 2020. Coogler will spend a good part of next year writing the script. There are no official plans for the MCU, however, beyond next summer’s Avengers 4 and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
