
In a way, you have to pity Sam Adams’ dilemma. They wanted to quote the Declaration of Independence in their star-spangled ad about how great America and Sam Adams are—but they were worried that including the line about the Creator would seem a little off with their product. There is a place to debate their concern, but the powers-that-be ultimately decided that their ad would say “All men are created equal, that they are endowed with certain unalienable rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” without making reference to Who was doing the endowing. But Christians noticed the omission, and Sam Adams has been bombarded with indignant requests to get it right. For their part, the Boston Beer Company has said that there’s some sort of rule about the whole situation.
