Science: Taking Pictures of Your Food Makes You Enjoy It Less

See? All along, we’ve been making fun of people who take pictures of their food and, as it turns out, for good reason. Taking a picture of your food isn’t only aggravating, it’s detrimental. The Journal of Consumer Psychology released a study saying that people who take pictures of their food are actually depriving themselves of enjoyment. The study actually determined that you have a limited amount of satisfaction per each object of desire, and that taking that picture eats up some of that satisfaction so that you have less to spend on the actual eating. Blah, blah, blah, long story short, stop taking pictures of your food. The study did note that taking pictures of other food doesn’t seem to have any affect on how much people enjoy their own food so, if you must, take pictures of other people’s food and then eat your own.
