A duo of physicists (one from Harvard and one from MIT), have released a new report claiming that they have invented an entirely new form of matter consisting of photons. In this report, they claim that their new “Photonic molecules … behave less like traditional lasers and more like something you might find in science fiction–the light saber.” Great job science. We hate to tell you this, but you totally skipped like hundreds of years of movie-technology we also want in real life. Look, light sabers are cool and all, but here are some inventions we were expecting before Jedi-style sword fights became a reality: Hoverboards, invisibility cloaks, flying cars, time machines, x-ray vision goggles, jetpacks and the list goes on.
