Sears, J.C. Penney Pull Ads from ‘SNL’ After ‘DJesus Uncrossed’ Skit

Retail stores J.C. Penney and Sears have both pulled their ads from Saturday Night Live following a petition from the conservative group the American Family Association over a skit mocking religion. The dust-up stems from the Feb. 16 “DJesus Uncrossed” sketch that depicted Christ as a violent, revenge-seeking killer, parodying Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained. J.C. Penney has not commented on the controversy, but Sears sent a letter to the organization saying, “Thanks for bringing it to our attention, it wasn’t supposed to happen and we’re taking steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Going forward, our ads will not run in this form again around SNL” …
