‘The Simpsons’ Have Retired Ms. Krabappel After the Death of Voice Actress

Following the death of actress Marcia Wallace, The Simpsons’ executive producer Al Jean issued a statement saying that the show will “retire her irreplaceable character,” Springfield Elementary teacher Ms. Krabappel. Wallace’s iconic character made her debut on the show’s second episode, and has been a staple of the animated series for more than 23 years. In addition to her work on The Simpsons, Wallace’s career included roles on other primetime hits including Murphy Brown, The Merv Griffin Show and The Bob Newhart Show.
