#SomeoneTellFox Trends After Show Uses Real Footage of Terrorist Attack

The hashtag #SomeoneTellFox began trending on Monday night after an episode of 24: Legacy aired footage of a real terrorist attack. The footage was from 2013 when gunmen in Nairobi opened fire in a shopping mall and took the lives of 67 people.

The show attempted to use the footage from a real-life tragedy in order to depict a fictional attack. There’s been little to no explanation as to how or why the footage ended up in the episode, but executive producers Evan Katz and Manny Coto released an apology promising to remove the clip from future reruns:

“In Episode 4 of 24: Legacy, we regretfully included news footage of an attack in Nairobi … It will be removed from all future broadcasts and versions of the show. We apologize for any pain caused to the victims and their families and are deeply sorry.”
