When The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters next May, the movie itself may be the second most entertaining thing about the production. It’s been announced that Han Zimmer, the composer behind the haunting scores of films like Inception and The Dark Knight, is teaming with pop-music super-producer Pharrell Williams to create original music for the film. With the help of director Marc Webb (who also happens to be a musician), the duo has enlisted their own supergroup that will include Johnn Marr of The Smiths, The Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart and Incubus guitar player Mike Einziger. In a press release from Sony, Zimmer said, “Marc and I were talking about Spider-Man, and as the word got out, so many of our friends and musicians started calling us up, wanting to be a part of it … With all of these hugely talented people wanting to join us, it was Marc who said, ‘Why not start a band?’” With all of these influential artists coming together for one project, it may be tempting to show little restraint in the composition, but remember Mr. Zimmer, with great power comes great responsibility …
