Patriots Breakout Rookie TreVeyon Henderson: ‘My Value is Found in Who I Am to God’

After a record-setting night for the Patriots on Thursday, rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson posted a short message on X about faith and identity that stood out from the usual post-game chatter.

“I’m thankful that God’s love for me doesn’t depend on my performance,” the rookie wrote on X. “That my value is found in who I am to Him, not in what I do.”

It wasn’t a one-off sentiment. All season, Henderson has been unusually open about his faith, weaving it into post-game reflections and social posts. He talks often about grace and the kind of transformation that can only come from God — unusually open territory for a first-year player still finding his footing in the league.

“I’m living proof of what the mercy of God can do,” he wrote earlier this season. “Jesus took the old me and he made it new.”

Meanwhile, the numbers are making it harder to ignore what he’s doing on the field. After a standout run at Ohio State, Henderson has quickly turned into one of New England’s most dynamic weapons. In Week 10, he posted 147 rushing yards with touchdown runs of 55 and 69 yards. A week later, he became the first rookie in franchise history to have two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown in a single game. He also became the second rookie in Patriots history — joining Rob Gronkowski — to score three touchdowns in a single game, finishing with 62 rushing yards and 31 receiving yards against the Jets.
