With the Indiana Pacers heading into the Eastern Conference Finals this week, point guard Tyrese Haliburton isn’t just relying on his talent. He’s relying on his faith.
In a GQ Sports interview, the All-Star player revealed the number one thing he can’t live without: his Bible.
“Over the last two years, my religion has become very important in my life,” Haliburton shared. “In a world where you have a bad game and they’re killing you on social media or your confidence goes up and down, I can always come right here. This is my peace.”
Haliburton said he didn’t grow up going to church or reading the Bible, but that changed when he entered the league. He started attending pregame chapel services—15-minute devotionals open to both teams—and credits former teammates Harrison Barnes and Buddy Hield for helping him build that habit early on. Now, it’s something he seeks out on his own.
As the biggest games of his career approach, Haliburton says his faith helps him stay rooted in truth and remember what’s truly important.
“He’s the only one who can really judge me.”
