Was Kirk Franklin the MVP in the Orlando Magic’s comeback win over the Phoenix Suns last night?
The short-handed Magic, missing star forwards Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner due to injury, looked as expected for the first half, struggling to score and trailing the Suns at halftime. But in the second half Orlando came to life — led by guard Jalen Suggs, who had 14 of his game-high 26 points in the 4th quarter to gut out the 115-110 victory.
What made the difference? Kirk Franklin.
That’s according to Suggs, who in a post-game interview gave a shoutout to the gospel legend for changing his perspective at halftime.
“I went in at halftime and listened to Kirk Franklin,” Suggs said. “And he loves me — Jesus loves me. Whether I’m right, wrong, or indifferent, He’s constantly loving me, constantly has faith in me. I tried to lean on that in the second half — play free, smile, lift my teammates up rather than worry so much about my performance. And good things followed.”
If you need to get amped up for the final stretch of the year, put on some Kirk Franklin and let good things happen.
