Steve Carell Is Teaming Back Up With Jon Stewart For A New Political Satire

Steve Carell has been busy lately. This fall alone he has major parts in Beautiful Boy, Vice and Welcome to Marwen bringing him awards buzz. However, his old Daily Show buddy Jon Stewart has been for the most part off the grid since leaving his flagship enterprise in 2015. However, Stewart is about to return to the limelight with Irresistible, a political satire movie based off an original idea, and he’s bringing on Carell to star.

Lots of mechanical details, like scheduling and financing, are yet to be worked out, and we don’t know many plot details yet, but we can take confidence in the idea knowing Carell agreed to take the part and Stewart roped him in despite a lot of those prerequisites being worked out. And let’s be honest, a Jon Stewart-directed movie starring Steve Carell is not going to have trouble coming together.

Needless to say, we’re doing to keep a close eye on this one. It’ll be good to have Stewart back in the national conversation, and we’re always down to see Carell stretch his acting chops further and further from Dunder Mifflin.

More details to come. (h/t Variety)
