Instagram Is Copying From Yet Another Social Media Platform

First, Instagram came for Snapchat’s Stories. Then, it went after TikTok’s video algorithm. And now, Instagram is going after… MySpace?

Reports are still trickling in but it appears that Instagram is working on a feature that will allow users to pick a “Profile Song.” RELEVANT readers of a certain age will likely remember spending hours with a similar MySpace feature, trying to find the perfect song to capture their mood.

Instagram is in an interesting place right now. They’ve been chasing TikTok’s tail for a few months now, trying to catch up to the app that has taken the world by storm. They’ve changed up the algorithm more times than anyone can keep track of, putting a major emphasis on videos over still images. But many of those changes have come to backfire, leading to thousands of complaints on both Instagram and other social platforms. It even promoted social media starlets like Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner to share and post “Make Instagram Instagram Again.”

Thankfully, Instagram’s CEO Adam Mosseri listened and the app has slowly transitioned their focus back to regular images. But it looks like they’re not giving up on trying new things. Well, trying old things in a new way.
