Jencarlos Canela—the star of the NBC comedy Telenovela—has signed on to portray Jesus in Tyler Perry’s upcoming televised, musical Passion play. Jencarlos joins a cast that includes Trisha Yearwood (Mary) and Chris Daughtry (Judas), for the modern-day, musical retelling of the final hours of the life of Christ. Instead of the ancient Holy Land, Tyler Perry’s The Passion is set in current-day New Orleans and will be broadcast live on Fox, on March 20.
