Terrence Malick’s Crazy New Science Movie Will Be Released in IMAX Theaters

The highly anticipated science epic from acclaimed filmmaker Terrence Malick—which he has been working on since the late ‘70s—finally has a release timeline. According to Variety, Voyage of Time will be released theatrically and in IMAX sometime in 2016. And though the man behind films including New World and Tree of Life is no stranger to grand cinematic visions, the premise of Voyage gives new meaning to the word “ambitious.” The film’s distributor explains that the movie “is a celebration of the earth, displaying the whole of time, from the birth of the universe to its final collapse.” It also “examines all that went to prepare the miracle that stands before us now. After the nebulae and supernovae, after the lands of lava and smoke, after the elaboration of the first cells, first fish, first amphibians and reptiles, this great wonder!” If that’s not epic enough, the movie will likely be poetically narrated by Brad Pitt, a man who is no stranger to poetic narration.
