Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ Updated the 10 Commandments to Account for Pat Robertson’s Saudi Murder Comments

This week, 700 Club host Pat Robertson was back in the news for suggesting that America shouldn’t punish Saudi Arabia for the alleged torture and murder of journalist and American resident Jamal Khashoggi.

Evidence suggest that the Saudi-born Washington Post contributor was dismembered alive at the Saudi consulate in Turkey at the behest of Saudi officials. Khashoggi had been critical of Saudi Arabia’s suppression of free speech.

On The 700 Club, Robertson essentially said that America should let the gruesome murder slide, because the country is paying the U.S. $100 million for military weapons. Robertson said, “These people are key allies. I don’t think on this issue we need to pull sanctions and get tough. I just think it’s a mistake … We’ve got an arms deal that everybody wanted a piece of. It’ll be a lot of jobs, a lot of money come to our coffers. It’s not something you want to blow up willy-nilly.”

Last night, The Late Show aired a sketch showing what Moses would have been like if he took such a callous approach to human life.
