One of the great creative wonders, evidenced most by that age-old question of all writers, is how brilliant minds come up with their ideas.
This summer, Tolkien, a new biopic about the famous Lord of the Rings author, will strive to source exactly how he conceived of such an expansive and impressive mythology as that of Middle Earth.
Nicholas Hoult stars as J.R.R. Tolkien himself. Hoult’s a veteran of the screen, having starred as a youth in About a Boy before the recent X-Men movies brought him attention as an adult. In Tolkien, he’ll be channeling the writer during Tolkien’s early years as a schoolboy, as well as his well-documented experience in World War I. Add a healthy dash of young romance and you have full-blown inspiration for one of the most vivid, beloved fantasy worlds of all time.
Hoult’s a good dude. He’s an active philanthropist, with his time and efforts going especially into organizations focusing on children. Christian Aid is one of his premiere areas of involvement.
Look for Tolkien to land in theaters May 10.
