Dan Fogelman knows how to make you cry. He’s written Crazy, Stupid Love and Tangled and, of course, the NBC sob-fest This Is Us. Now, he’s coming back for your tear ducts with his new movie Life Itself.
Life Itself is another cross-generational relationship drama in the vein of the hit NBC show. It stars Oscar Isaac and Olivia Wilde as what appears to be the central couple, but Antonio Banderas is also there, looking very wise and kind. There are a lot of heartfelt speeches about love and life and change, and at one point a child says one of those strikingly mature and profound lines that makes adults see the world in a different way. It’s all very lovely.
We also have our eyes out for a twist, too. Is Antonio Banderas really an angel? Is Oscar Isaac the same person as that brown-haired little girl? Is Olivia Wilde the same person she was in the 2011 action movie Cowboys and Aliens? Only time will tell when Life Itself hits theaters September 21.
