Tim Allen is making his way through the New Testament, and so far, he’s pretty impressed.
“Finished the Old Testament, and it is such a gift when I get out of the way and the words and meaning flow,” the actor posted to X this week. “This week I am now in the book of the Gospel of Paul. A Roman Jew familiar with Plato, Stoicism and other Greek schools of thought. I am amazed in seven pages!”
He later clarified he meant Romans, writing, “Ok specifically reading Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans.”
Allen first shared his Bible-reading journey earlier this year when he finished the Old Testament, calling the experience “humbling” and “overwhelming.” He’s spoken before about his complicated relationship with faith—raised Episcopalian, but skeptical for years following personal tragedy. Over time, though, he’s said he began viewing God as “The Builder,” someone he turns to for purpose and clarity.
Now, it seems, he’s digging into Paul’s theology with fresh eyes and, apparently, a lot of enthusiasm.
