By now, most Americans are educated on the scope of the opioid crisis that has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives, broken families and devastated vast swaths of the U.S.
Now, a new Netflix documentary is turning its attention to one man who lost his son to a drug-related shooting in New Orleans.
Police shrugged, but Dan Schneider launched his own amateur investigation that ended up uncovering the genesis of the opioid crisis years before it would land on the radar of the nation. In doing so, he also uncovered the powerful people, institutions and corporations that were either complicit or actively involved in the irresponsible push to get opioids into the hands of at-risk individuals while ignoring the risks.
The movie will debut on Netflix next month.
