American Idol is hosting a full-scale worship night on Easter Sunday.
The April 20 episode will be a three-hour “Songs of Faith” special, where all 20 contestants perform worship and gospel songs in primetime. Also on the lineup: gospel artist CeCe Winans, Brandon Lake, Jelly Roll, Roman Collins and The Brown Four. Lake and Jelly Roll will perform their collaboration “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” which they dropped earlier this year.
And in case that’s not churchy enough, the judges—Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan—are all performing worship songs, too.
To be fair, Idol has never shied away from faith—plenty of contestants have led with their beliefs, including Colton Dixon, Danny Gokey and the late Mandisa. But turning Easter Sunday into a full-blown worship event? That’s a new level.
Tune in to the “Songs of Faith” special at 8 p.m. ET on ABC on April 20.
