Hulu has greenlit a new animated comedy series from Dan Levy, creator of the Emmy Award-winning Schitt’s Creek, and his long-time collaborator Ally Pankiw (The Great, Feel Good).
According to Variety, Standing By will offer a satirical take on the trials and tribulations of guardian angels. The story follows a group of guardian angels, frustrated yet bound to their assignments, as they learn valuable lessons from their human charges and from each other.
“Standing By is about the hilarity, embarrassment and melodrama of everyday life as observed by a team of judgmental, gossip-starved guardian angels,” Levy and Pankiw said in a statement. “We are very excited to bring this world to life with the help of Hulu, 20th Television Animation, and Bento Box Entertainment. Not to mention an insanely brilliant cast of actors.”
David Tennant, Natalie Palamides, Glenn Close, Poppy Liu, Samira Wiley and Levy will lend their voices to the show.
