‘Jury Duty’ Is Coming Back for Season 2—And Somehow, They Pull It Off Again

Turns out duping an unsuspecting civilian into becoming the unwitting star of a fake reality show is a renewable resource. Jury Duty is coming back for a second season, and somehow, they’ve already filmed the whole thing without the internet catching on.

While the second season will reportedly be called Jury Duty again, this time no jury or courtroom will be involved. For the second season, the show will be based at a company retreat with the central clueless participant stepping into a David vs. Goliath setup.

The details are still under wraps (because secrecy is kind of the whole point), but sources say the new season takes cues from ’80s comedies like Caddyshack and Animal House, which means expect corporate dysfunction, an underdog storyline and at least one rich guy being ridiculous.

Unlike last season, which aired on Amazon Freevee before the platform quietly disappeared, season two will go straight to Prime Video. The original creative team is reportedly back, which means the chaos will be just as carefully orchestrated as before.

For the uninitiated, Jury Duty is an elaborate prank-documentary where everyone is an actor except for one poor soul who has no idea they’re the star of a scripted TV show. Season one followed Ronald Gladden, a regular guy who thought he was participating in a real jury trial only to later learn that every moment—including James Marsden’s gloriously insufferable Hollywood antics—was completely staged. The show racked up four Emmy nominations proving that good-hearted deception is an art form.

Now, the experiment resets with new players, a new setting and another innocent person slowly realizing they’ve made a huge mistake. No premiere date yet, but consider this your official notice—court, or rather, corporate retreat, is back in session.
