‘King of the Hill’ Is Being Rebooted on Hulu

It’s official: Hank Hill is coming back.

Hulu announced it’s rebooting the cartoon sitcom King of the Hill. Mike Judge and Greg Daniels will return as the show’s creators, along with Saladin Petterson as showrunner and original voice cast members Kathy Najimy, Stephen Root, Pamela Adlon, Johnny Hardwick, and Lauren Tom.

The idea of a reboot has been something Judge and Daniels began floating back in 2017.

“We are all so excited to welcome back Hank, Peggy and Bobby, and to see what they have to say about the world we live in and continue the conversations we began years ago,” said Craig Erwich, president of ABC Entertainment, Hulu and Disney Branded Television streaming originals.

The original series centered on the Hill family in a fictional Texas town navigating work, relationships, family and faith. The Hills had quite a bit to say about their Christian faith, and the show often touched on real elements of Christianity in their trademark irreverent way.

To celebrate the reboot of the series, here are our top five faith moments from King of the Hill.

1. Bobby’s Prayer

Like a good Southern Christian family, the Hills often began every meal with a prayer. Occasionally, Bobby Hill would take a stab at it, thanking “the J-man” in a way that only he could.

2. Christian Rock and Roll

Bobby joins an edgy youth group, much to Hank’s distaste. The pastor has tattoos, long hair, and worst of all, sings Christian rock. Eventually, Hank has enough and tells the pastor off by saying, “You’re not making Christianity better; you’re making rock and roll worse.” Truth hurts.

3. Bobby Performs Miracles

During a church talent show, Bobby misses the mark by performing many of Jesus’ miracles as magic tricks. He turns water into wine, produces a loaf of bread, and almost attempts a crucifixation before someone finally puts a stop to it.

4. The Hills Go Church Hopping

After losing “their spot” at First Methodist, the Hill family goes on a church-hopping adventure to find a new home. But their experiment leaves them more frustrated than hopeful, something many Christians can relate to when trying to find a new church.

5. Bobby Joins a Cool Youth Group

Bobby is once again taking his faith seriously. He stumbles upon the coolest youth group ever, a group of tattooed, long-haired skaters who are “totally Christian.”
