Lilly Singh Will Take Over for Carson Daly, Making Her the Only Woman Host on Late Night Television

Lilly Singh, a former YouTube star, will be taking over Carson Daly’s late, late spot on NBC, making her the only woman hosting late night television. Singh, who will retitle the show A Little Late with Lily Singh, will officially take the reigns in September of this year.

“An Indian-Canadian woman with her own late night show? Now that is a dream come true,” Singh said. “I’m thrilled to bring it to life on NBC, and I hope my parents consider this to be as exciting as a grandchild.” She will also executive produce the show.

Daly started hosting Last Call with Carson Daly 17 years ago, in addition to his radio host and The Voice duties. But Singh is a solid fit — a YouTube personality who’s amassed 14 million subscribers, is a bonafide New York Times bestselling author with her How to Be a Bawse: A Guide to Conquering Life and has even showed up in a few feature films like Bad Moms and HBO’s Fahrenheit 451.
