HBO has finally set a premiere date for The Rehearsal Season 2 and dropped the first unsettling teaser.
The 20-second clip shows Fielder standing with his trademark laptop harness, surveying five identical rooms where mysterious scenarios are playing out. Is he conducting a social experiment? Watching his own breakdown in real-time? Both? All we know is that HBO claims this season will tackle “an issue that affects us all.” Given Fielder’s track record, that could mean anything from confronting mortality to perfecting the art of small talk.
For those who missed Season 1, The Rehearsal began as a docu-reality series where Fielder helped ordinary people practice life’s big moments through eerily elaborate simulations. But things quickly spiraled when he inserted himself into the experiment, creating a fake son, a fake family and—if we’re being honest—what felt like a very real existential crisis. By the finale, no one (including Fielder) seemed sure what was real anymore.
Whatever Fielder has in store, it’s bound to be weird, awkward and impossible to look away from. The Rehearsal returns April 20 on HBO and Max.
