Netflix is Welcoming the Next Generation of Formans on ‘That ’90s Show’

Same basement, new decade.

Netflix has dropped their first-look teaser trailer for That ’90s Show, the sequel to, you guessed it, That ’70s Show.

The new series brings back Red and Kitty Forman, who are looking out for a new generation of hooligans. From the first look, it seems like Red is as grumpy as ever and Kitty is just as kind, while their granddaughter Leia Forman carries on the tradition of bringing an eclectic group of friends together in the most well-lit basement in Wisconsin (see what we did there?).

Based on the trailer, it’s kind of hard to figure out who the show’s for exactly. There’s no official word yet on if Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Laura Prepon, Topher Grace or Wilmer Valderrama will appear in the new series, and everything from the trailer feels like the jokes might only land if you didn’t actually live through the ’90s.

This also isn’t the first time there’s been a spin-off from That ’70s Show. Back in 2002, Fox tried to cash in on the series’ popularity by making That ’80s Show, which was such a failure that most people forgot about it. Hopefully Netflix can figure out how to keep the ’90s alive without it being terrible.

That ’90s Show will premiere on Netflix on Jan. 19.
