‘The Chosen’ Star Elizabeth Tabish Joins Ashley Greene in a New Faith-Based Medical Drama

A new film is taking a closer look at the line between medicine and miracles.

One In A Million, a new faith-based medical drama, will tell the true story of a family whose faith is tested when their young son is diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening disease.

Ashley Greene, best known for her breakout as Alice Cullen in Twilight, stars as Cindy Kassis, a mother fighting to keep hope alive as her son battles HLH, a rare and often fatal blood disorder. The Chosen’s Elizabeth Tabish plays the family’s physician, joined by CSI: NY’s Russell Quinn, The Office’s Andy Buckley and Heels actor Roxton Garcia, who makes his feature debut as Jade, the young boy at the center of the story.

The film is directed by Tanner Beard (Blood Behind Us), who said he was deeply moved by the Kassis family’s real-life story.

“The Kassis family’s real life account truly moved me when I heard what they went through as a family unit and how they never lost their faith in each other, faith in the medical staff and faith in what they believe in,” Beard said. “It’s such a powerful narrative and one I felt very honored to tell, especially with Ashley Greene Khoury, Russell Quinn and the rest of the amazing cast.”

Faith-based dramas have long wrestled with how to portray miracles without sanding off the edges of real pain. One In A Million seems poised to do both: to tell a story grounded in medical urgency, but open to the possibility of divine intervention. Whether audiences come for the hope or the heartbreak, this one’s betting they’ll find a little of both.
