Whew. Last week’s WandaVision finale capped off a pretty wild run of sitcom pastiche, magical hijinks and a love story between a witch and an android that somehow ended up being pretty moving, to say nothing of “Agatha All Along.” It was a weird one by Marvel standards and the studio’s next foray into Disney Plus looks like far more typical MCU fare.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier follows Captain America’s two best friends on a globe-trotting adventure to secure their friend’s legacy and thwart the schemes of the villainous Baron Zemo, who we last saw in Captain America: Civil War. This was actually supposed to be the first Marvel show on Disney Plus but the coronavirus pandemic being what it was, that time table got all messed up. So people who liked the offbeat strangeness of WandaVision might be a little disappointed with this relative return to form but, then again, remember how much fun those Captain America movies are? This one looks like it’s got some similarly good Cold War-era vibes. It debuts on March 19 and will probably be all anyone talks about for the next two months or so.
