Get ready for NFL games in 140 characters, or something like that. The social media company Twitter just made a push into online programming by winning a bid against Verizon Communications Inc., Yahoo! Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. to live stream Thursday National Football games online. Twitter will stream 10 Thursday night football games for free, while they are also shown on NBC, CBS and the NFL Network, the NFL said in a statement Tuesday. While it may seem like a surprising move, the company views is as a step toward making Twitter the go-to place to interact with and discuss live events.
