Worship artist Brandon Lake and country music star Jelly Roll debuted their hit single, “Hard Fought Hallelujah” at the Grand Ole Opry last Wednesday.
The night marked Lake’s first performance at the historic Nashville venue, and the duo’s first live performance of their song.
Lake shared the story behind the collaboration, saying that he wanted to sing it with someone who understood the reality of a hard-fought hallelujah. After reaching out, Lake was surprised to learn that Jelly Roll was already a huge fan.
“I’m honored that I was the call,” Jelly Roll said on the Opry stage. “I’m a Brandon Lake fan… What he’s doing for Christian music, even outside of Christian music — he’s taking it further than I’ve seen anybody take it in a long time.”
