With musician centric biopics all the rage this year with titles like Blaze and Bohemian Rhapsody coming out, it would make sense that the movies next in the lineup would start to branch off into weirder territory. Rocketman, due out next year, is about Elton John, and it looks like it’s taking a positively magical approach.
With a teaser soundtracked appropriately to the title song, the trailer for Rocketman showcases a slate of typical music-movie beats like excess and romance, but it also sprinkles in some fantasy elements that fit right in with the Elton John vibe. When John performs, the crowd floats. He floats, too. It’s rather lovely.
Taron Egerton, most famous for his starring role in the Kingsman series, plays Elton John. Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World) and Jamie Bell are around, too. You can look for Rocketman in theaters sometime next summer.
