Long before Katy Perry was a global pop star (and a judge on American Idol), she was a young Christian music industry star who went by her given name, Katy Hudson.
The child of traveling ministers, Perry’s (Hudson’s, technically) self-titled album debuted to mostly positive reviews in 2002, and led to appearances on Christian TV channels, like this forgotten performance on TBN back in 2002.
