Watch Steve-O Open Up About Suicide, Addiction and Recovery

Stephen Glover, the stuntman and personality better known as Steve-O from the Jackass franchise, recently sat down with Graham Bensinger, and opened up about some deeply personal struggles and his path out of addiction.

Steve-O describes being given alcohol by his own parents when he was a child, and eventually becoming a full on drug addict.

His level of addiction got so desperate that he snorted cocaine that contained dried drops of blood from a person that was HIV positive.

Eventually, Johnny Knoxville organized an intervention after it became clear Steve-O had become suicidal.

But, after embracing recovery, Steve-O has stayed clean and has become outspoken about his own story and why drugs and addiction can be so destructive.

Back in 2010, he spoke with Vanity Fair about the role that God played in his life after getting clean.

He said,

I wouldn’t have really committed myself to any kind of spiritual lifestyle, I don’t think, if I had not endured great suffering. I think that’s the case with a lot of people. At the end of the day, what brings you closer to God is being in service to others. I think any religion or spiritual way of life will indicate that service to others will lead to a connection with a higher power.
